Preserving family heritage through ancient ritual and artisanal craft.
Preserving family heritage through ancient ritual and artisanal craft.
A Christchurch-based studio specialising in heirloom work, domestic archives and sacred home rituals.
One household of Hellenic-themed brands, handmade in Christchurch. Each is a door into a different corner of home and craft — this is where you find the right one.
Theophora doesn't sell anything itself. It's the HQ — the parent business behind roughly sixteen brands, each named for the deity or epithet whose domain it echoes, each a customer-facing door of its own. Everything we make, preserve or teach sits behind one of those doors. Our job here is to point you to the right one.
Three verbs run underneath all of it:
Make — botanicals, beeswax, soaps, plants, bridal pieces, materials for other makers, art.
Preserve — family recipes, half-finished heirlooms, vintage pieces given a second life.
Teach — the myths, deities and Hellenic calendar, explained for a modern audience.
Theophora comes from the Greek theophoros — "god-bearing," one who carries the divine. It's an old idea with a simple meaning for us: the sacred doesn't only live in temples. It lives in the ordinary — the meal cooked with care, the heirloom mended rather than discarded, the garden tended in step with the seasons. Theophora exists to carry that reverence back into everyday domestic life.
Kosmae will be at the Shabby Chic Market Day stall in Woolston, Christchurch, on Sunday 6 September 2026 from 11am - 3pm.
This will be Kosmae's launch!

Nothing here is ordinary, and nothing is small — there's a whole philosophy under the handiwork.
Meet the team that keeps the studio running — a Head of Earthworks, a Senior Keyboard Warmer, and one resident enigma. Every Friday, we open the front door.
Free recipe digitisations, a launch-day gift, and 10% for referring a friend across Theophora's brands.
An evolving project by Psyche by Theophora, turning a suburban yard into a habitat for butterflies, pollinators, and healthy soil systems - with a carefully designed rabbit habitat at its centre.
